    The Role

    The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of EH&S programs, policies, procedures, and auditing functions for Minnesota Operations.  Assures compliance with employee occupational health and safety and environmental laws, rules, and regulations applicable Company Policy and procedures.  Expected to be an active participant and leader of the site Safety Committee and Emergency Response Team

    In this role you will

    Assignment Complexity – Must be able to take proactive action to implement immediate and effective corrective actions to eliminate safety hazards.  Must be able to interact with upper management to direct and implement effective policies and procedures.  Must demonstrate effective problem solving ability.

    Accountability/Discretion – Will be responsible for implementing EH&S policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and best management practices.  Position will have the discretion to shut down equipment, tools, projects and such in the event that there is an imminent hazard to the health and well-being of employees, and to protect company property and the environment.

    Working Relationships - Must demonstrate effective communication and develop working relationships with Executive Management, Front Line Supervision as well as other employees.

    Scope – Understand and appropriately influence company strategy as related to Environmental Health, Safety and Security compliance and program implementation at the site operational level.

    • Knowledge of Federal and State Safety laws, regulations, codes and best management practices
    • Good interpersonal skills; ability to develop relationships quickly and effectively at all levels throughout the company.
    • Knowledge of hazardous materials management, environmental regulations
    • Skills and experience in employee development and training
    • Ability to work with people in a culturally diverse environment
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both on a written and oral basis
    • Ability to use a computer
    • Ability to read blueprints
    • High level of initiative
    • Good communication skills (written, oral and presentation)
    • High level of teamwork and ownership.


    8-10 years’ experience.  Technical degree is required to assure basic knowledge of chemistry, health sciences, regulatory and legal requirements and implications.  Master’s degree is preferred.  Typical degree would be a B.S. in Environmental/Health and Safety Science or B.S. Applied Sciences.  Experience in industrial manufacturing environment required.

    Primarily defined by key performance indicators such as site total injury rates, Lost and Restricted Work days, proactive EHS performance (inspections and closure of findings), compliance to regulatory and Company policies and procedures.
