    The Role

    This position works alongside strategic sourcing activities for various types of polymers and polymer related materials, works closely with key stakeholders in Business, Operations, Quality/Regulatory and R+D organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective category strategies and implementation plans. 

    The Procurement Engineer - Polymers will be an integral part of the Global Procurement organization to develop and implement a global sourcing strategy and appropriate KPIs to measure success.

    This role is based at our Chaska, MN or Colorado Springs, CO facility.

    In this role you will

    • Understand polymer and polymer related spends across the business, analyze category markets and translate into actionable strategies and forward-looking analysis.
    • Understand the concepts of both the scientific and commercial sides of Global Procurement;
    • Assist in negotiations;
    • Assist in Development of Polymers category, Stays abreast of the changing supply base and new technologies;
    • Assist on efforts to drive cost optimization, improved quality and service and enhanced innovation through alternative science;
    • Collaborates with key stakeholders upstream and downstream to ensure engagement, buy-in and ownership of key sourcing strategies;
    • Support compliance and quality activities around procurement at varying sites;
    • Remain current with market trends through relationships with vendors and market experts; identifying and communicating new technologies and solutions to Company’s key problems in the assigned spend areas;
    • Lead efforts to work with Business Units and Plants to resolve issues with materials and/or suppliers expediently;
    • Leads efforts to take current materials into next generation applications by working creatively and effectively with the supply base to help attain a specific set of materials that are off the shelf, but provide advantages in our applications. 

    Traits we believe make a strong candidate

    • 8-10 years of Materials Development experience with applications in SEMI or other high tech markets;
    • B.S. Degree or M.S. degree in Engineering or science discipline;
    • Demonstrated understanding of various Procurement and Quality requirements; 
    • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing new materials in a SEMI, High Tech, and/or Medical application;
    • Experience leading multicultural virtual teams in a global and complex environment;
    • Ability to travel up to 35%;
    • SAP ERP experience preferred;
    • Sourcing and Procurement Proficiency:
    • Strategic sourcing expertise and understands sourcing methodologies and tools;
    • Understands external market fundamentals, utilizes appropriate e-sourcing tools, generates and analyze innovative sourcing options that enable value, business and financial acumen, analytical skills, ethical responsibility.
