The Role

We are excited to bring eager, talented students on board and provide them with an unparalleled internship experience. 

Reporting to the Sr. Intellectual Property Counsel, the Intern is responsible for assisting the Chaska BOLT team in procuring intellectual property protection for the company’s innovations.

In this role you will

  • Conduct patent and patent application searches on public and subscription databases.
  • Learn to track metrics on patent activity for the Divisions and create a process for continued collection of data and reporting.
  • Assist attorneys and agents with patent application prosecution tasks, including reviewing and understanding prior art and drafting responses to office actions
  • Become familiar with patent landscape analytics.
  • Support the migration of data into a new docketing system and assist the patent agents in establishing reporting practices utilizing the new system.
  • Assist in due diligence efforts for Mergers and Acquisition
  • Perform case studies on relevant areas of intellectual property

Traits we believe make a strong candidate

  • Junior in a Bachelor of Science program, enrolled in a technical curriculum such as, engineering, physics, chemistry, etc., interested in Intellectual Property (such as becoming a Patent Agent)
  • The individual’s cumulative GPA should be 3.0 or higher and they must have strong written and communication skills.
