    The Role

    We are excited to bring eager, talented students on board and provide them with an unparalleled internship experience. 

    Reporting to Chaska the
    Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, the Safety Ambassador Coach Intern is a key member of the team to learn the process as we implement our Safety Enhancement Program.  The goal of the Safety Enhancement program is to get employees more involved in early identification and control of hazards in the workplace.  The structure of the program hinges on the effectiveness of the area Safety Ambassadors. With guidance from the EHS Specialist, the intern will facilitate the development of, and learn along with the Safety Ambassadors.  The Intern and Safety Ambassadors will receive additional training on safety topics, learn how to prepare and deliver different safety communications, and support efforts to increase employee engagement.

    In this role you will

    • Attends and participates in Safety Ambassador training and meetings
    • Participates with Safety Ambassadors to assist in safety audits.
    • Partners with Safety Ambassadors in learning about the Environmental, Health and Safety Management System.
    • Partners with Safety Ambassadors in learning about the EHS reporting system, how reports are entered and tracked. The intern will be provided with information in order to learn how EHS metrics are reported in the facility. 
    • The intern will develop communication skills by engaging with employees on the production floor, leads and supervisors as a result of the following:
    • Participates in the completion of FMEA and Job hazard Analysis in different areas of the plant (training will take place before this activity)
    • Actively participates in safety learning teams and incident reviews
    • Demonstrates and actively promotes safe work practices, models engagement and ownership with safety to Ambassadors and employees
    • Recognizes others for positive safety behaviors and helps others proactively solving safety issues

    • Ability and willingness to communicate with people at all different levels of the organization.
    • Basic computer skills, a comfort level with Microsoft Office is a plus
    • Ability to speak with/in front of groups of team members and staff, we value your input
    • Possesses a high degree of EHS interest and energy
    • Must have a high level of integrity
    • Ability to organize and follow through on tasks
    • Desire to help others
    • Pursuing an undergraduate degree that focuses on safety, environmental, or ergonomics
    • Year in school: sophomore or junior preferably
