The research and development Chemical Engineering intern will work in the newly formed Advanced Process and Materials (APM) group.  We are focused on developing new processes and identifying new materials that will enable our products to provide superior performance for our customers.  The position primarily involves running experiments to identify which processes and materials will meet the design specifications of our new products.  In addition, this position will include research to gain a fundamental understanding of specific cleaning mechanisms.  The intern will gain valuable experience in semi-conductor filter design and manufacturing as well as testing protocols.  This Co-op is for Jan 2018- June 2018.


  • Conduct research under the direction of a more senior engineer to identify processes and materials that will meet design specifications of new products. 
  • Provide accurate timeline requirements for project tasks and clearly present project details.
  • Communicate progress including recommendations for improvement on a frequent basis.
  • Use critical thinking and problem solving, constantly striving to improve the product development process
  • Adapt to project scope changes, analyze and resolve problems and make quick, responsible decisions with limited information.
  • Use statistical methods to analyze data and make valid conclusions


  • Excellent laboratory skills with safety focus
  • Detail-oriented, able to evaluate and solve complex problems using methodical approach and rational thinking
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information to all organizational levels both verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast paced working environment
  • Ability to work with intra and inter departmental functional areas fostering a collaborative teamwork environment
  • Experience with statistical packages such as Minitab for data analysis and design of experiments is desirable but can be learned on the job through our Global Statistics and SixSigma program
