Entegris is seeking a Patent Agent with strong patent drafting and prosecution skills, to join the IP Department’s IP Portfolio Management Center of Excellence. This position will be located in our Billerica, MA facility, and works with technical and business employees that may be located in any one of our facilities throughout the world.


  • U.S. and International patent and application preparation and prosecution includes drafting utility, design, and utility model applications and responding to official actions from the patent offices throughout the world (non-U.S. patent work to be coordinated with outside international counsel);
  • Interface with scientists, engineers, business leaders, and IP Counsel to identify inventions, draft applications, and prosecute patent applications;
  • Coordinate with IP counsel on patent prosecution issues that impact global business objectives and provide support in executing portfolio management strategy;
  • Assist or lead IP related work such as patent clearance studies, patentability searches, litigation support, competitor benchmarking, and due diligence projects, as directed by and under the supervision of IP Counsel;
  • Develop expertise in patent analytics in support of an IP strategy;
  • Prepare and present intellectual property training to employees.


To be successful in the role and at Entegris you will need:

  • Bachelors of Science or higher in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Physics;
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in patent prosecution in the material, mechanical, and/or chemical arts;
  • Knowledge of the PCT process, patent procedural requirements, and USPTO practice, including post-grant proceedings;
  • Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office;
  • Familiarity with PTO practice in Asia countries is a plus;
  • Ability to read and/or understand Chinese, Japanese, or Korean language is a plus;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects;
  • Ability and willingness to travel (approx. 10%).
