Overview

The Coatings Process Technician position is responsible for safely operating PECVD and Sputtering coatings equipment including gas fed vacuum reactors to achieve a multitude of material coatings.  This position supports manufacturing of new and/or existing product and process lines.

Responsibilities

  • Works with other technicians, engineering staff, and other team members to complete coatings operations in order to meet required throughput for customer demand. Participate in improvement activities for product manufacturability
  • Follows documented procedures for processes and safety, records process information in both written and via computer spreadsheets, databases and ERP system.
  • Monitors product and processes and takes required actions as necessary. Ensures product is consistent with established specifications.  Escalates quality issues appropriately.  Ensures highest possible product quality and adherence to the Entegris quality system, ISO and/or other standards. 
  • Focuses on processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost effectiveness and product/system quality. Participates actively in continuous improvement activities such as 6s, Kaizen events, etc. to eliminate non-value activities.
  • Assists in training other manufacturing personnel in the operation of new and existing equipment and processes. Assists in resolving problems or concerns that arise during the manufacturing process.
  • Assist in the mechanical upkeep and repairs as needed
  • Completes miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area. Wears required Personal Protective Equipment.  Performs duties in a safe manner. Performs preventative safety tasks and observes approved safety procedures.  Communicates potential hazards immediately. 

Qualifications

Education in PECVD / CVD processing or equivalent on the job training preferred. 2 years minimum manufacturing experience.  Working knowledge of coatings equipment / processes.  Ability to operate above mentioned manufacturing equipment in support of operation.  Ability to adapt to work environment, work force and fluctuating customers’ demands.  Proven mechanical capability to support manufacturing equipment. Ability to read and understand work instructions, perform math computations and computer data entry. 

  • Excellent visual ability to detect quality defects.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to use visual aids and tools such as a microscope.
  • Work in a cleanroom manufacturing environment requiring the wearing of varying protective equipment for long periods at a time.
  • Wearing safety glasses and Nitrile and or Latex Gloves are also required
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Use hands and fingers for handling and or feel; reach with hands and arms and you must be able to move throughout the department/facility.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit and stand
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • This is a manufacturing environment. It involves exposure to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock and moderate to high noise levels.
  • Exposure to isopropyl alcohol, acetone, Di water and other cleaning agents. 
  • Equipment uses varied gasses including Silane, Argon, Acetylene, Ammonia
